It's a wash!
I always try to remember to wash my face before I hit the hay. Even when I'm totally exhausted and I feel like I just can't physically stand there for two minutes to stand at the sink. But I found a killer face wash that is soooo good, I look forward to washing my face. It's B.Kamins Vegetable Wash and it's awesome because it's not too foamy so it doesn't dry my skin out, but it still bubbles up so I feel like it's working.
Do you guys have the same problem as me and have to convince yourself to wash your face before bed? What's the one thing that you have to remind yourself to do each day? Maybe your CG! sisters can help make you want to do it by suggesting an awesome product. Oh, another thing I hate doing is flossing! It's so annoying...

Upcoming Beauty Trends
So fashion week has come and gone… and it seems like the biggest show of the week was Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. fashion show on Friday night. Everybody was talking about those clothes! But, since I'm a beauty editor, I was more into checking out the spring makeup trends. One of my favorite looks was at the Luca Luca show, which a few trends I saw a lot during the week: huge lashes, bronzer, and reddish-orange lips. If you’re feeling all ahead-of-the-curve, you can get a similar look with a pair of false lashes, like Ardell Strip Lashes, some blood-orange lipstick (try Sephora Lipstick #100 in Coral Red, and your favorite bronzer (I know you already have one!). Quick Tip: Make your eyes look big and bright like they did at the Luca Luca show by dabbing a golden-cream eye shadow on your inner corners.
Ready to do your own beauty trend reporting? Check out the shows at Style.com then post links on here to your favorite trends for the rest of us to see!

Letterman Jackets
So, I have a stupid confession. In high school, I earned a Varsity letter...but then I never got a letterman's jacket. EVERYONE else had one, but I didn't get one because I didn't earn my letter until the end of Junior year and I thought it would be silly getting a jacket I knew I'd only wear for one year (because who wears their high school letterman's jacket in college?!)
Anyways, I sorta regret that I don't have that fabulous souvenir from high school. It was SUCH a symbol of who you were and where you were from when I was in high school...and I was lucky because I was a Munster Mustang, and my colors were black and red. Both the mascot and school colors were better than a lot of surrounding schools and I always thought our jackets were pretty. And I NEVER--never never never--thought I'd look back and wish I had one. It sounds lame, but I think it's just because it's a symbol of your memories and as you get older (I'm 23 now!), you treasure these sorts of things to remember what your life was like and think of how you've changed.
Are letterman jackets a big deal at your school? Do girls still wear their boyfriend's jacket? (I don't think I even did that!) Let me know what you think of letterman jackets!

Beware the hair!
I recently applied makeup to a good friend and I noticed she had a long black hair sticking out of her upper lip. I've definitely had my share of hairs in embarrassing places, so I didn't know whether to point it out to her or just let it go. I have always been so obsessed with getting rid of mine, and just when I think I've pulled the very last of the bunch out, out pops another one. Surprise!
Would you guys tell your friends they had a long hair in a weird place?? I ended up telling my friend and she was a little embarrassed but totally thankful. The funny thing is, she found a scary hair on my chin two seconds after I tweezed hers. We just died laughing...

Rants and Raves

Hey ladies!
Okay, my thoughts are EVERYWHERE today...I just can't focus. I'm totally moody too about things. Like, lately, I'll totally love some trends and hate other ones with a passion. So let's play a little game. I'll list my most recent rants and raves...and then you tell me YOUR rants and raves!
RANTS:
Super-dark hair with blonde highlights. It looks groddy to me. That's right, GRODDY.
Tanning booths. First off, it's the summer, why is anyone going to a tanning booth? Second, UV rays are gross and bad for you anyways. And no, there is no such thing as "safe" rays because your "booth filters out the bad ones." Lastly, don't say you need a "base tan" for vacay. A base tan is only as effective as an SPF of 4. True stuff. Wow, I'm really ranting here.
Chinese/beaded slippers. Unless they're really special, I'm over them. Are you?
RAVES:
Short hair. I have long hair and I wish I had the guts to chop it all off and go with something totally sassy.
All the most recent trends from this summer: Cowboy boots, boho skirts, big belts, wedge sandals...I'm still loving them all.
Red lipstick. Think Rachel McAdams or Gwen Stefani. I say, if not now, when?!
Okay, I'm done being totally random. What are some of YOUR rants and raves?

Alex and Ani bracelet
Hey girls! A couple days ago, our Deputy Editor, Chandra, was wearing this cute little gold bracelet...and as we all know, gold jewelry is SUCH a hot trend right now. So anyways, I asked her where she got it and it turns out that her shopping actually was because she was supporting a cause that helps victims of Hurricane Katrina!
Alex and Ani, a designer of couture and contemporary jewelry, has created this "St. Christopher Bracelet" featuring it's patented, expandable wire bangle. The little medallion is of St. Christopher, which symbolizes protection and is one of the most popular saints and is thought of when people pray for victims of storms and plagues. The story goes that Christopher was crossing a river when a child asked him to carry him. So he put him on his shoulders, but the child grew heavier and heavier, but Christopher - now the patron saint of travelers - kept going and it's like he was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.
I'm not a religious person and I almost didn't realize that my name is very similar to the saint...I just think this is a really cute piece of jewelry that is for a good cause. ALL proceeds benefit Project USA and the victims of Hurricane Katrina and you can buy one of these expandable bracelets for $16 at www.alexandani.com.
The bracelet should be available for at least another month, but make sure you order one soon if you want to help out while also go online shopping! Now that's retail therapy!

Mountain Woman
My boyfriend just left to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa! I've been helping him plan the trip and getting things he needs to survive for 8 days in the rainforest and on the mountain. And all the while I kept thinking, what beauty products would I bring if I had no electricity or running water for 8 days?
So here it is, my list of things I can't live without:
-Goody clear elastic hair bands...my hair gets really wild and wooly in humid conditions!
-Water-proof mascara...I know, I know, I'm pathetic! But I just feel like I look a little better when I have mascara on. Don't you?
-Chapstick...dry lips make me miserable.
-Toothbrush...goodbye morning breath!
What beauty products would you bring with you if you were going on a hike for 8 days? Do you think I should reconsider my list?

Fashion Week's "Tech-cessory"
As you girls know, it's Fashion Week here in NYC! So of course there are a ton of runway shows going on and all that good stuff. But when the models aren't running around changing between outfits, I wonder what they do? Do they read magazines, talk with each other, chat on their cell phone...?
On Friday, some models at the GenArt Fashion Show were caught passing the time by playing on their Nintendo Game Boy Micros. As they were being beautified by stylists, these models even had their own latest technology accessory! Oops, or perhaps I should say tech-cessory! The Micro is the smallest, sleekest gaming system around and it is small enough to fit in your purse, next to your iPod. They'll be BFFs in no time!
The Micro can play all Game Boy advance games and is just four inches wide and two inches tall. Clearly it's making its very own fashion statement during Fashion Week and I love seeing models and superstars play games while they get ready! It reminds me that it doesn't matter how cool your job is, you still just want to play games and have fun!

Australian for Makeup
I've been a fan of makeup from Australia for a while. I love Sue Devitt's Eye Intensifier Pencils, thick, creamy, totally smudgeable eyeliners (my fave is Tanzania, a metallic bronze that makes brown, blue, and green eyes pop). And a new-ish company, ModelCo, makes this really great lip wax that fills in all the crevices in your lips and makes them look really full (the company's owner tells me all the French beauty editors are big fans too).
But the latest makeup from down under that I like is Napoleon Perdis. It was created by one of Australia's biggest makeup artists. I haven't tried all the products, but I really like the packaging…some boxes are topped with cool anime illustrations and they all have an Old Hollywood kind of feel, like the pretty mosaic blush that comes with a cute powder puff (pictured here). Anyway, I just thought I'd let you guys in on a new brand you may not have heard of!
Now it's your turn to share...do you use products from any cool brands that aren't that well known yet?
